I feel like people sleep on the shading ink type in Aseprite.
it's really fun painting, layering multiple tones, getting fun textures as each brush stroke is layered, easily being able to adjust the values of an area

Sometimes I'll make textures with it just for fun

I'd like to mention that to PAUSE the game in Game Maker, your options are still:
- Storing a list of every instance you want to deactivate
- Sticking an exit condition at the top of every step event
- Give every object it's own unique update method that's called from a different object's step event

It still bothers me any time I see someone act like Undertale is unique in how jank and amateurish its code is

An indie game made by someone who hadn't coded a large project of the sort before, made in an engine that at the time lacked many features that are standard (and still kinda does tbh)

Random pet peeve of mine right now, when people rip the soundtracks to older CD era games, but don't include the sequenced songs that aren't played through Redbook audio

I get that they're often just incidental tracks and jingles people aren't as interested in, but they're still neat to me.........

Been hyperfixated on Metroid again, so wanted to try spriting a mockup of a Metroid game as if it were on the Sega Genesis. 4 palettes with 16 colors each (including transparency)

I think the biggest thing I miss from CSP moving to Krita is the close gaps setting the fill tool has, coloring always feels so time consuming and tedious when I'm not just making a sketchy mess

If I released a steam demo for BUDD that has less content in it than the SAGE '23 demo, would people be disappointed by that?

This is mostly because certain things are balanced differently now, some story scenes are different, and some extras are unlocked by different means in the full game

Sometimes our brain formulates hot takes about video games that make us sound insane to normal people

This morning's is wishing more retro throwback games ran at like a quarter of the framerate, because a PS1 style game running at 60FPS feels uncanny and fake to me
