Keeping public lands in public hands. Working toward a clean, affordable, American-made future. Led by Ranking Member Senator Martin Heinrich.

Trump is making electricity more expensive–not less.

That’s because of something we’ll call the “Trump Tax”—a combination of tariffs, canceled clean energy investments, and cuts to energy affordability programs.

Now his “big, beautiful bill” could make it even worse. 🧵
200+ clean energy jobs folks can build their families around. Cutting-edge innovation. Keeping New Mexico competitive. Kairos is an example of workers in our state leading the way as we grow good-paying jobs and strengthen our clean energy leadership.

For decades, Republicans have been slow walking progress on clean energy. That isn’t free. Home insurance premiums are through the roof because of their inaction.
Rising Home Insurance Premiums Are Eating Into Home Values in Disaster-Prone Areas
Changes in the insurance market have started to affect home prices in the most disaster-prone areas, new research finds, pushing some homeowners’ finances to the breaking point.

The revenue generated by public lands is comparable to hosting 8 Super Bowls per month. They’re more than just places to recreate–they boost our national and local economies and support almost a million jobs. Cutting resources hurts more than recreationists, it hurts communities.

We are at a crisis point for our national refuges. DOGE cuts have threatened our ability to take care of them and manage them effectively.

No real consultation. A one-week comment period. And now Trump is rushing to lift Western Arctic protections — railroading Tribes, ignoring community input, skipping NEPA reviews, and putting wealthy interests over everyday Americans.

Our National Parks are our “crown jewels.” Just one expert was plugging abandoned mines that leak methane and oil into these lands — until this administration let him go.

Their reckless cuts endanger Americans and create a new public health crisis.

Steven Concho: These places, people refer to them as ruins, or abandoned, but they’re not. We still go to these places. They’re living places that still hold meaning to the Pueblo people...Protecting all these places keeps our tradition alive.

Sen. Hickenlooper: Can you speak to the impact that these staffing cuts have made, especially on energy projects?

Dr. Chris Merritt: The more federal agencies don’t do their job because of staffing, the more it falls to us.

Our public lands are at risk and we’ve never been closer to losing them than we are right now. We won’t let that happen.

Dr. Chris Merritt: I cannot imagine a world where the lack of federal employees is not going to hurt permitting.

Sen. Heinrich: Our kids and our grandkids deserve to know where they come from. And we can't tell the story of our nation without protecting the places that literally tell those stories.

Trump's privately funded ballroom is classic pay-to-play corruption.

The public deserves to know exactly who is funding Trump’s vanity project—and what he has promised them in return.

Families across the country are bracing for cold weather and skyrocketing electric bills. We need more clean, affordable, American-made energy now.

Trump’s continuous attacks on American clean energy projects mean one thing: working people will pay for his reckless policies.

Due to Trump’s shutdown, 80% of the NNSA has been furloughed.

These are the people who oversee our nuclear stockpile–and Trump already fired many of them earlier this year. We need steady leadership that keeps national security professionals on the job and our country safe.

While Donald Trump is busy spending $250 million of taxpayer money on a new White House ballroom, our rural gateway communities are struggling and our national parks are less safe.

In just a few months Donald Trump's war on affordable, American-made energy has killed thousands of jobs, leaving working families without incomes and exacerbating our energy affordability crisis. The latest example ⤵️

NEWS: Throughout the 10th Circuit, including in NM, corner crossing remains legal across parcels of public land that touch corner to corner, making thousands of acres of your public land legally accessible — just make sure you step public to public land, and never damage any private property.

The folks who maintain our nuclear weapons stockpile? 80% are being furloughed because of Trump’s shutdown. Meanwhile, Trump keeps spending on his fancy new $200 million ballroom… and House Republicans can’t even shown up to work.

We are falling behind other countries and losing manufacturing jobs because Trump is doubling down on fossil fuels and attacking clean, American-made energy. That hurts our economy, hurts our energy supply, and hurts you where it matters most—your pockets.

Now more than ever we need more energy, not less, to power our grid. Trump’s solution? Kill hundreds of energy projects across the country, skyrocketing costs and losing our competitive edge.

"Renewable energy isn’t being done by countries because they are woke. That is a stupid statement. It is being done because it is economic."

Trump is waging a war on American-made energy— willing to skyrocket your energy bills and kill jobs to enrich his billionaire friends.

Nakedly political and unlawful.

These projects would have created jobs and lowered costs.
