i like some cozy genre stuff but as a Cozy Mystery enthusiast specifically i'm often like. ok this is sort of like describing your fantasy/mystery/scifi/etc as "apolitical", in that, is it really Cozy or is it just Unexamined

did you know: my new book about Antony and Cleopatra IN SPACE comes out on Tuesday. I would describe it as influenced secondarily by Shakespeare and firstly by the most egregiously low-budget Doctor Who episodes of the 2000s. it has an incredible cover www.hachettebookgroup.com/titles/emery...

Here I am, a factory worker enjoying his lunch in the North End of Boston on January 15, 1919. I’ve survived the influenza pandemic, I’m feeling good about life, and I’ve never been more confident I will not be swallowed up by a flood of liquid sugarcane extract

nothing at work that I get as much unfiltered pleasure from as receiving an email that begins "nice to e-meet you"

too long to list all of them, the only one I remember sincerely disliking was Pope's "Rape of the Lock", which gave me the best paper I wrote in all of secondary school, you learn so much from going "I kNOW this is misogynist but I need you to BELIEVE me so I need to articulate WHY"
US and UK friends, I'm curious: What books were part of your required reading for highschool literature class? Which of them do you remember loving, and which did you loathe?

when I was a kid I took such pleasure in starting all my projects by getting a piece of printer paper and drawing a beautiful map with ice caps on the mountains and different handwriting for city names and country names and every inch of the country borders meticulously considered and now

time for my New Year's Day tradition: baked potato stuffed with garlicky broccoli, asparagus tossed with sage porcini and rosemary and roasted within an inch of its life, hot apple cider, and crying my eyes out over HOLIDAY (1938)

the best part of NOSFERATU that people are not going to have access to is that i went to an open-caption screening and in that one shot with Thomas and Orlok in Orlok's castle the subtitle was "slow, rhythmic slurping"

If you don't want to open the door to a federal bathroom bill and a federal ban on trans people, take the time to go to

www.usa.gov/elected-offi...

and then CALL (with a phone) your elected officials. Tell them, 'I expect you to vote against any proposed anti-trans bathroom bill.'

if you're in the area and have the chance, strongly recommend seeing The Civilians' Sex Variants of 1941. idk that this is a "I think the show is great" rec so much as an "I want other people to talk about the show with me" rec, but it is amazingly rich, unsentimental, and heartfelt
