Important questions and research from @emmaceisenberg.bsky.social about the future of the Free Library, and literary community, in Philly.
Why are none of the Free Library of Philadelphia’s Author Events free anymore? | Opinion
Though the costs may seem cheap, the fees and other changes create an unnecessary barrier to entry for one of the library’s most popular and widely accessible programs.

I cannot overstate how revelatory I found Liz Moore being willing to talk about her regrets over the way she wrote the fat character in her second novel. To see a writer at this level acknowledge harm caused. Plus her thoughts on plot changed everything for me

Liz Moore has not lost the plot
The master of literary mysteries talks constructing a story and how she would write the fat character in her second novel differently now.

Here are my favorite reads of 2024. I would also include the Kafka I read this year, but I'll probably make a post just about that sickly little complainer soon. I read so many knockouts this year. It was such a comfort. I love books. Thank you to all these fabulous writers.
