You canβt get to peace by repeating the obvious lies of the aggressor. Even if you have no moral qualms about becoming the propagandist of a foreign power, practically speaking it just canβt work.
Witkoff saying that the overwhelming majority in the four Ukrainian regions (Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Donetsk, Luhansk) voted to be part of Russia is preposterous. The 2022 referendums were sham. The majority in Zaporizhzhia live in areas under Ukrainian rule where there was no referendum at all.
Itβs clear from this that the only difference between Steve Witkoffβs and Vladmir Putinβs views on the war in Ukraine is that Putin actually knows the names of all the five Ukrainian regions he wants to keep.
