#Introductions
I came over from queer TTRPG+nerdy fountain pen Twitter 9/23. Here I’ve been hanging out mostly in the Weird Anglican/TEC zone.

Important note: I have spent most of my life wanting everything to do with God and nothing to do with Christianity. Now I’m in discernment for ordination.
I didn’t expect last night’s Evensong service to use the propers for Epiphany, but I guess 3 days in a row of celebrating it isn’t the worst thing in the world. We must really need it. ⚓️

🕯️Epiphany

Unclench your fists
Hold out your hands.
Take mine.
Let us hold each other.
Thus is his Glory
Manifest.

How we pray at my house at the end of a work day. I’m somewhere under the two cats and the BCP.

Unfortunately for the cozy cats, I have to get up and head to church for Evensong! ⚓️

This is a super basic question, but as a lay person, what prayers would you say for someone who is actively dying? I looked in the BCP but there seems like a gap between “Prayers for the Sick” & “Prayers for the Departed”. My brain isn’t working so I thought I’d ask the Narthex. Pls pray for Nan. ⚓️

We have a retired priest who recently joined our parish and has been filling in lately as we await our new priest in charge. She likes to interject jokes and funny comments, and get people laughing in church. I like her, but don’t know how I feel about this part. It’s definitely a bold approach. 1/2

Extremely rude to see the news about Venezuela immediately after a needed, uplifting spiritual direction session. I don’t get to have those good nun vibes that often!

Hey Dio Oly friends who are interested in discernment, heads up! This is exciting. See you there? ⚓️

Oh, and -- Happy New Year, everyone. May it all be better.

This week our Vestry met in executive session, and then we got an update that they’re in the final stage of the search for our new priest in charge. I remember thinking that New Years might roughly be when we called the PiC, back when it seemed so far off! Here we are. The suspense is building 🙏 ⚓️

The last of my family left today, after a wonderful holiday together. As per usual, I spent nearly every waking minute of the last week wherever my family was gathering. I was only home to sleep and change clothes. We are so blessed to love and enjoy each other so much!

The cats missed me a lot.

My sis-in-law is a producer for the new Starfleet Academy series so we got to watch the advance version of the upcoming pilot at our big family Boxing Day brunch, which is a super cool perk. We unanimously loved it, young and old, Trekkie and non. I hope it’s a roaring success!

Merry Christmas to me, I just used my gift money to register for CDSP’s CALL class on Anglican Theology! I’m very much looking forward to learning What We Believe™️ from the Rev John Kater, PhD!

I’m a little scared to find out how I do taking a class. It’s the only way to find out though. ⚓️

Oh great. It’s time for the annual Christmas holiday anxiety to hit. Sigh. Here we go!

Earlier this year I rashly bought white overalls with blue barnyard animal “farm toile” print, and have only worn them once. I just realized they are my new official Christmas Eve attire. The colors plus animals likely found in a stable, it’s almost like it was an intentional Nativity purchase! ⚓️

My family gatherings involve multiple generations of people gathering with their exes. Tonight’s dinner at my mom and stepdad’s house includes my dad, his current partner of 20 years, AND his second (ex)wife. Christmas Eve/Day will include my ex-partner and her wife. I think it’s an island thing.

I got a pleased email from our lead lector, complimenting me on my “beautifully reverent” approach to the altar when I was lector last week, and thanking me for actually listening to her training. Was I actually picturing her humorous impression of what NOT to do, as I reverently approached? 100%. ⚓️

The electricity came back on last night and the apartment is warm again but the cats are still glued to me. I hate to inform them that I must leave the house today.

Power outage Day 2: my personal warming station. Grateful.

We had a big windstorm last night and the power has been out since 1:00 am with no estimate for when it will be back on. Now it’s getting dark. The cats are like, “What is your deal? Why won’t you turn any lights on? Why is the heat off? What happened to our water fountain? Still water? Wtf?!”

I’m attempting to try out different paper for my psalms book project but Wynnie has other ideas. Khadi Lightweight Cotton Rag is out of stock until spring, Hahnemuhle Ingres is too light. Maybe I’ll try Somerset Book Wove next? Now accepting gift cards to Talas Online, lol. I need a patron.📕

I’m still feeling the glow of attending Advent Lessons & Carols at my daughter’s church last night, along with family members who all drove between 1-3 hours to hear her sing in the choir. To be able to hear her beautiful voice in the mix and know she is well-loved - it does a mother’s heart good. 📕

One of the topics of dinner conversation at the “CME”gathering was this question: “Do you think it would be possible to have a residential interfaith monastic community?” Which evolved into “Okay but what if it was just Buddhists and Christian Mystics?” (both of which were at the table). 🕯️
Today was the monthly meeting of our Benedictine Life group at church & for the afternoon it’s the semi-monthly gathering of a group of friends which originally started with a “Christian Mystic Extravaganza” dinner party. The name stuck and now CME includes a forest walk, pizza, readings & convo. ⚓️
