certainly! and i'm gathering more to continue my own learning.

here's my UX intro for XBox Game Camp Asia (skip to p.7). this is an overview, but does get into some practical applications and a bit of "philosophy" to develop a sense of good user experience:

a fantastic game, and personally significant: the DH2 event in San Francisco was my (re)entry into the video game industry. i had some insightful conversations with Pete Hines and producer Will N. that were encouraging to jump into a different kind of software.
I think #Dishonored 2 was released on this day, 9 years ago. Much love to Raf and my teammates in Lyon.

the GOP's day-to-day evil is never surprising, because we know they're evil. they announce it with glee.

congressional Democrats still have the remarkable ability to disappoint and disgust me, though. they claim to be saviors while repeatedly fumbling easy layups and crashing below bare minimums.

more persimmon pickin'

i picked almost twice as many as the first wave. more are coming, too, as they ripen unevenly on the tree; sometimes a soft one will sit next to a firm one on the same branch.

this time i'm going to try freezing the pulp to reduce the astringency. then, more jam!

Skinballs will be the next trend in ao3 fanfic
On Saints Row we had a debug npc named Skinballs (lol) that was literally just four spheres wrapped in different shades of skin texture so we could test lighting for different skin tones during development. But teams need to plan for that kind of testing with intentionality, and not enough do.

this notification is so beyond absurdity that it feels like one of Captain Kirk's computer-exploding paradoxes.

did it affect the bloodflow in my brain? maybe this is what Snow Crash is like.

the wild persimmon* jam is a success!

the color, flavor, and set are all good. it's not a clear winner, though, as it's a little grainy and there's still a whisper of astringency on the back end. i think i can improve on it...

* these are not "Texas" wild persimmons, but probably "American".

how do i install all of the .NETs

seriously, i just want to play games, but they keep coming up with new .NETs to make me install. why can't Windows ship with everything it needs? why do apps keep using it? everyone looks dumb here.

learning this f/2.8 telephoto, tho... wicked fast autofocus, smooth bokeh, and it's shockingly light! (Sony 70-200 GM OSS II; cyclist at f/5.6, bird at f/4, dogs at f/2.8, persimmon at f/3.2)

if you want to change movement keybinds in Battlefield 6, you have to change them in *six* different submenus

bro do you even ultrasonically degas your PC's coolant?

i'm ready for Battlefield 6! i hadn't replaced this coolant in almost 4 years, though it still ran well and only lost about 1/4 cup to evaporation.

we joke, but UX designers & user researchers are quite invisible or sidelined in a lot of studio workflows. and it shows! outside of core gameplay, most video games have mid-at-best user experiences.

and it's part of a larger problem...
Society when game programmers no longer talk to their game designers like they’re the dumbest person they’ve ever encountered in their lives

IG froths at the mouth to play videos, ignoring browser autoplay settings to falsely boost engagement numbers. yet, it won't keep a video playing when you switch to another tab because they want you endlessly scrolling. lol - what a needy, shady, blatantly manipulative liar of a site.
i joined Instagram for DJ stuff, and it's amazing how it finds new ways to disappoint me.

i get that IG depends on dark UX patterns to ensnare people into vapid, endless scrolling, but does it also have to be a buggy and fractured? the lack of polish is incredible given their budget and staff!
