The 80th anniversary of VE Day is around the corner - so it is a good time to pay respect to the sacrifice of thousands of men and women in the Second World War. I took a look at roll of honour data for Dundee and Aberdeen. To emphasise the scale of loss I built a memorial garden using D3.js

I decided to join this month's Journal Dataviz Challenge and visualise the Women in The Nobel Prize with a slightly different format. Each pair of petals represents a single woman who won the prize from 1901 to 2024. The more women winning a year, the flower grows fuller. #dataviz

We have analysed when crashes happen on the A96, but today we want to provide a better answer for the question of where they happen. Using QGIS I created a heatmap along the road from Aberdeen to Inverness showing clustered accident blackspots. 1/4 #dataviz

Fourteen fatal crashes, 89 serious crashes and 76 slight collisions. That is the breakdown of the 179 accidents on the A96 between 2019 and 2023 as we launch our latest investigation. Throughout the week we will have exclusive analysis on the road running between Aberdeen & Inverness. #dataviz 1/3

After an amber weather alert for rain on New Year's Eve, I am kicking off the year with some rainfall analysis. Some monitoring stations across Moray and the Highlands saw their wettest December on record - with one even breaking a record set in 1999. www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/news/6661...
December 'wettest on record' across parts of Highlands and Moray
We analysed data from hundreds of rainfall stations across Scotland.

We have been tracking Perth's high streets for a year now. But how has the Fair City changed over the course of 12 months? The average vacancy rate in Perth increased slightly since 2023, but fell or remained at 0% for five out of nine tracked streets. #dataviz #ddj #datajournalism
