I post about movies, stuff I do like art and making mounts to hold fragile old things, random life stuff I think is clever, and sometimes Dad advice. I promise, no Dad jokes

"Succubus" (2024)
If sexy time makes you uncomfortable, maybe best to sit this one out. A classic tale about a man who gets ensnared by a succubus, but with a modern twist. Low budget, but well done despite this.

What? No Esperanto? See: "Incubus" (1966)

Can't tell you how excited I am to watch Western vampires in 1959's "Curse of the Undead" on #Svengoolie tonight

The other day I had someone scoff at my taking side sewing gigs. "Really? You *do* that?" I look at it as a service, it's a skill I have that many others don't, it helps reuse items by repairing them, and $ is $. Plus, all I make from those gigs goes back to small artisans in purchases. Do your part

"Abraham's Boys: A Dracula Story" (2025)
This is a very slow moving horror thriller that follows up on the madness of the original Dracula story, many years later. Set in the hills of old west California, with only a few technical questions to avoid such as how did they get electricity?

Am finally scheduled for my flu & COVID shots this morning. Along with starting to squirrel away meds, as we'll be losing our insurance come 2026. & It'll take a while to figure out an alternative

Looking for a new gig w/ bennies has been fruitless thus far. Lord & lady help us get thru this time

I view the holiday season as a contact sport. Despite not celebrating Xmas I used to send pagan themed holiday cards, especially to the xtended fam that thought we were living in sin. Every year I start early so the people I love get a little treat. This year is Turkish Delights

On this Transgender Day of Remembrance I watched three trans people talking about today's significance on the local afternoon news.
One of the hosts got teared up.

As always, be safe out there. And the world is a more interesting place with you in it

Yesterday I was taken completely by surprise by someone whom I have known for years, going on a wild rant about how China is going to take over the US. I think they also were a Tr$mp lite supporter. Just...whoa

"Companion" (2025)
When you mix AI with the human need for attention, it never turns out well. Some nods to heavyweight pioneers in the genre such as "Stepford Wives" ('04) and "A.I." ('01). The next logical progression in our relationship evolution

Look, I don't have answers to this issue other than to institute the rules my grandmother who lived in war torn Europe cooked by. No runny eggs. Thoroughly wash EVERYTHING, fruit, meat, veg. Boil anything canned or jarred. Thoroughly cook EVERYTHING. That means no more rare steak for you. Sucks tho
"Last year saw a doubling of Americans who were hospitalized or killed by contaminated food outbreaks ... Despite that, the new funding bill blocks federal rules designed to trace sources of outbreaks, and to prevent contamination of produce."
Congress’s shutdown deal eliminated key food safety rules, blocking agencies from enforcing measures to prevent contamination and trace outbreaks. This rollback has coincided with a surge in hospitalizations and deaths from foodborne illnesses.

I just reread my first short story I wrote in 2019. It was meant as a warning, as I could feel the world pulsing with unreleased venom

Unfortunately it now reads as an assesment of the current political climate

Just applied for a position at an aerotech co. coiling wire until 10:30 pm, because it has bennies and it's looking like no health insurance next year otherwise. And poppa's got a partner with health issues that need maintaining

"No Country for Old Men" (2007)
This was more a rewatch as I think I saw it back in the day when the Coen Bro. were hot sh*t. I really only cared about this guy and his creative uses of compressed air, TBH. But a fun thing to watch while working on chores/ projects

Just got done uploading photos from an old abandoned rubber plant on Patreon. Some of them were used in the 'making of' content on the DVD for the movie "The Shadow Walkers". Of course they got my name wrong, and my copy of the DVD I scored on clearance at Blockbuster got loaned out & never returned

"Sew Torn" (2024)
A seamstress trapped by memories, unravels in this very "Groundhog Day" style crime tale. Come for the Rube Goldberg thread contraptions, stay for the cathartic dancing to a song about sewing machines. Exemplifies why I never dealt with brides to be

And complete

King of the Damned Diadem

I don't really take myself that seriously, but I do like to be dramatic for effect sometimes

May make another, different one, as I have supplies to do so

"The Crimson Cult" (1968)
There really isn't much to say about this other than: Christopher Lee! Barbara Steele! Boris Karloff! And trippy 60's FX
