NEW: An Oxford report warns that misleading media coverage is shaping public debate on immigration and human rights.

The study finds the ECHR is frequently misreported in deportation cases, fueling misconceptions that erode trust in the legal system.

DOGE came for the research and statistics arm of the U.S. Department of Education today, declared "fraud" and "waste" and abruptly terminated about $900M in contracts. A lot of what we know about America's schools comes from the data this agency collects. New reporting with @jodiscohen.bsky.social

Trump just withdrew the United States from the World Health Organization.

The US is now the only country in the world besides Liechtenstein to not be a member of the organization.

It was £34,700 in 2020.

And is only 0.8% higher than 2013.

Thanks for sharing @nimishlad.bsky.social Lots of this chimes with recent thinking at Ark on use of LLMs to support teacher planning. We're not advocating strongly for it but we're conscious teachers are using these kind of tools and wanted to get 'ahead' of that with hopefully sensible guidance.

Similar summer reading here @alexquigley.bsky.social ! Currently reading 'Failed State' (great insight into the structures and personalities behind current problems @samfr.bsky.social) and just finished this by Fiona Hill -of Trump impeachment fame- which focuses on educational opportunity.

Helpful advice. Though I'll struggle to reuse any 'banger tweets'. Very much a silent partner over there, absorbing the debate (and at times the bin fire). I resolve to get more involved in Bluesky!
