Instead of putting them on a menu, go visit some at a farmed animal sanctuary. Spend the whole day there with all the animals. Turkeys are incredibly sweet, and if you’re sitting on the ground don’t be surprised if a turkey climbs into your lap for a cuddle.
Turkeys are loving, smart individuals with personalities, just like our companion animals.
They deserve respect—not to be dinner.

For my #BirdOfTheDay, I give you a Mallard hen escorting her ducklings across the mud for #BirdsStandingOnSomething. She was escorting a brood of 5, hustling them along while keeping an eye on me. They were headed for a back channel in the rushes, one of the ducklings was quite far ahead.

And don’t be fooled by terms like “free range”, “cage free”, “organic”, etc. They’re meaningless and designed to make you feel better about supporting cruelty. Those terms basically mean packed tightly in a warehouse by the tens of thousands. Don’t support cruelty with your purchases.
