writing about Judith Butler and Marxism ( in my case more about anarcho-communism) was not easy, but the editors of this volume, Elliot C Mason and Valentina Moro, kept encouraging me so I kept writing. I am glad they kept pressing. Dedicated to the late Marxist theorist Marina Vishmidt.

Read this essay by Giroux if you can. It convincingly explains the nexus between neoliberalism, authoritarianism and fascism and the machinery of cruelty that characterises US politics now.

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS.

With mass deportations starting today across the country, it is vitally important - for both citizens and non-citizens - to know your rights.

You have the right to remain silent. Assert it. You have the right to a lawyer. Ask for one.
