I've watched the film. This excellent project needs and deserves a sponsor.
We made a film! This is such a brilliant, complex, simple, nature restoration project. Can you help us find a sponsor to turn it from experiment into practice? 🌲🐂 www.galbraithgroup.com/our-services...

Thank you to the kind folks who took time to review my book Herryea Forest recently - it's much appreciated and I'm so glad you enjoyed it! If you haven't read it yet why not give it a try? you don't need to be/have a child to enjoy an adventure and learn something about forests! amzn.eu/d/48CyrYM

How was the construction of the beautiful St John's church funded? What can that story tell us about Edinburgh's role in the Scottish and global economy? Murky dealings and colourful characters in my 2013 paper, available online for the first time. open.substack.com/pub/eleanorm...

I've been hunting for a few years: have I found Edinburgh's greatest chimera cherry? (Hutchinson Crossway) 🍒🩷🤍

What is the origin of the Easter Bunny, the word 'Easter', and Easter eggs?

If you are curious about the scholarly answers, which were to me surprising, I highly recommend episode 5 of the excellent "Data over dogma" - on this link, or on your podcast platform.

An old blog from 9 March 2011, when I looked up at a building and began a journey that led me to write my favourite history paper. eleanormharris.substack.com/p/oddly-goth...

Brilliant catching up with @woollymaggot.bsky.social today and his amazing cows in trees. It felt more like a safari than a visit to a forest/farm.

I'm delighted to see the UK Government Timber in Construction Roadmap: but there's one missing bit of the puzzle.

Builders, like farmers, could demonstrate net zero without needing to buy offsets. They could even sell offsets to hard-to-abate sectors. Read more:

I'm delighted to see the publication of the UK Government's Timber in Construction Roadmap which is full of good sense and represents a lot of work by many stakeholders.

Dear climate change document writing people,

The M in MtCO2e is variously used to stand for 'metric' (1), 'mega' (1000), or 'million' (1,000,000). Please clarify in your document which you are using, or our tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent could be anything.

kind regards,
The reader

Lower oil and gas prices dented BP's profits, so it's reducing investment in renewables 🤷

I know they're just following a global trend - but whether I was an investor looking to my pension, or a charity in receipt of sponsorship, I'd be questioning their lifechoices.

BP profits drop as it says it will reset strategy
The oil giant is widely expected to say it will scale back on renewables later this month.

The radio just told me UK government want to build 1.5m homes. Why not make them low-carbon to build and a carbon store for the future?
Why don’t we build more detached homes like this?

Modular units built from spruce in a factory and constructed on site in *one single day*. This is a small home, 55m2, but could be extended to 89m2

Yesterday I saw the brilliant "Three Words for Forest", a verbatim-play-film using foresters' real words. It distilled perfectly my own experience of coming into forestry and discovering the wealth of knowledge and passion in our industry. Congratulations Rachel Clive and @deeheddon.bsky.social!

Well there you go

It's not as blue ticky though- it doesn't stop things having accounts with slightly different domains posing as people.
That nice handle that Al Jazeera have is how they verify themselves without the need for a blue tick - anyone can use a custom domain instead bsky.social but only if they control that domain.

I've finally found a joiner to build my fitted bedroom, and he is bringing me timber which very recently would have stood in a forest ...
