A year ago I couldn't wait to be rid of the Canadian Liberals. Too woke, too Hamas-tolerant, too fiscally clueless, too preachy, too divergent from Canada's values as I see them.
But every time Pierre opens his mouth these days, that conviction wanes as I realize it could be worse.

Jaguar is trolling everybody.
A fascinating strategy to get attention.
I'm waiting for the second shoe to drop.

Every second day, Linkedin sends me an email to tell me "you're on a roll!".
I haven't posted there in months.

Migrated all my desktops and laptops from #KDE Neon #Linux to TuxedoOS. So far very happy with the results, even though none of this is running on Tuxedo hardware.

Comparing and contrasting app privacy policies for Threads, Bluesky, Twitter and Mastodon:

I joined Bluesky when it was invite-only more than a year ago.
Interesting to see new followers, tho I haven't posted in a while. I still think Mastodon's fediverse has a better approach to speech freedom, but the main thing is to be where others are.
Anyway... Twitter refugees, welcome!

NEW: Google confirms it’s only blocking Canadian news orgs as defined under the Online News Act and would not, for example, block the New York Times or Fox News.

In effect, this change only means we’ll see news produced inside Canada replaced by news produced outside of Canada.

Nice take on Montréal.
In retrospect, good you didn't dwell on the REM. The ambiance of the neighbourhoods is more important.
Shame all those bike lanes and outside patios are useless for 1/3 of the year... but that's why the RESO is so important; so much to do indoors.

Looking forward to your Montréal trip report(s).
Just in time to gawk at both the new REM and the amazing NIMBY response to its proposed eastern expansion. Canada rarely has such strong popular revolts against transit projects, usually attitudes are there's not enough.

Any ETA on when #Bluesky is coming out of invite-only?
I currently like the platform better than any of the post-Twitter platforms but its reach is 0.1% of X's.
The tease of scarcity will only go so far.

For people going to the #CNE in #Toonto by transit:
Take the 63 Ossington bus to its southern end (Atlantic), walk one block south and cross under the GO tracks. No lineups to get on. No being squished in the bus. An almost civilized way to go by #TTC.

Please consider as a topic: Transit safety, real & imagined.
Hollywood's filled with subway/bus fights. Real world incidents are high-profile local news.
I know folks who are genuinely scared of transit, preferring risk of collisions in their cocoons over risk of harassment.
