Proud (and sometimes tired) owner of One More Page Books. Pittsburgher at heart. Lover of indie stores and music and books featuring lots of murder
This is unconscionable. Even when food is available people risk getting shot and killed. There seems to be no safe place for them to be in their own country.

Reports of starvation in Gaza raise the questions: Why the hesitation in labeling it a famine? And who are the authorities with the power to make that call?
What does it take for a famine to be declared in Gaza?

I mean, it's not like there's some Federal Agency that handles Emergency Management.

Oh. Wait.

It’s hot and humid but no reason not to vote in today’s VA primaries. I did and even posted this pic of her “glowing” (read:sweaty) self. #voteyourvoice #votingispower #votingisyourright #voteyourvoice #voteasifyourrightsdependonit

So inspiring! We had water and snacks for folks but they were prepared. @wofava.bsky.social did an incredible job prepping for the day.
Peaceful #NoKings protests in Arlington and all around the world.  Very well organized by @wofava.bsky.social and @indivisible.org. Not anti military, but opposed to idea that no one is above the law. Proud that some of our staffers are out making a difference! #NoKings #NoKings2025

With so much horrible stuff going on sometimes you need to go for a walk to recharge and be reminded there are voices of support and action all around.

Sticker truth. Maybe we should post everywhere we can.

Thank you @legroff.bsky.social! Indies really appreciate your support. ❤️
Fellow authors, I love you, and I know it feels like we don’t have a choice, but B&N and Am*zon both scheduled sales this week to preempt Independent Bookstore Day, a hugely vital source of income for indie bookstores. Please don’t promote their sales; please promote your local indie this week.

Don’t miss this auction being put on by Crime Writers for Trans Rights. It runs through April 1st and is in support of Transgender Law Center. Amazing items for a much needed organization like this one from @almakatsu.bsky.social

When I need a smile I look at this photo of my brother’s dog who’s very put out because he can’t go out and play with the big dogs.

Libraries provide educational programs, access to technology, community meeting space, and SO MUCH more. All this in addition to free access to books and information. My first job was on a bookmobile for Carnegie Library because our new community didn’t have a library.

It was wonderful to see folks sit down and spend time on this National Parks puzzle on Friday’s economic blackout day. Just visiting with others and relaxing for a few minutes. Plus it reminded us of @altnps.bsky.social @onemorepagebooks.bsky.social
