Thought I’d share this ray of light on a dreary January morning. Maybe it lightens the load a little for you too.

I like your style, Charley. LFGM! (I *think* we still maintain rights to that phrase, tho it’s a little bittersweet to type it).

Hi, I absolutely love it, mostly for the higher quality sound, and that they pay artists the best (as far as I understand). I don’t think there’s a a free tier, although they give you a month to try it. Their target audience is audiophiles, but I think a lot of people are starting to try it.

I did too. Switched to Tidal.

I’ll be honest, she may not be the best debater or have the best verbal skills for quick answers, but in longer form, she is smart, tough, and impressive.

Thanks - didn’t mean to strike a nerve (the ATM was illustrative, not the actual). I get it tho, AI is threatening. It was helpful to me. Might not be for others. Maybe it is a threat.

Writers in the 90s (apparently) felt the computer threatened writing, too. Imagine being without a backspace now.

Appreciate the thoughtful response. Thanks.

“Fact checking” was probably the wrong word. Example: Character plans an ATM heist in 1982. Was a certain kind of anti-theft tech available yet? Google was unhelpful. Presented the scenario to CGPT, it came back with a summary and links to support the plausibility. Hate to say it, but very helpful.

Yes. I work alone, don’t have the luxury of an editor, and it can check for typos, brainstorm ideas, be a remarkably adept fact checker, give perspective on character or plot development - get me 75% of the way before an actual editor might help finish the job.

I gotta be honest, and it’s rare for me to say this, but this might be the first relatively reasonable thing this dude has said since January. And if he’s gonna distance himself from RFK, that’s a lot better than the alternative.

Smartest thing I’ve come across in a while….
Last night Timothy Snyder talked with Rachel about the idea of a shadow government to serve as a model and reminder of what is possible from a government of qualified people instead of Fox guests and family members.

It came up twice, actually. Here's 1 of 2.

How we can meet the challenges of authoritarianism
This is not our first rodeo with authoritarianism. Americans have collectively risen to seemingly impossible challenges in the past, and we can again.
