even more honestly my read of Americans is just too limited, maybe, and i don't think it's some kind of "natural" thing anyway, it's systemically encouraged by the usual constellation of motives and cybernetic directives of all who benefit from most everyone's everyday immiseration

puns were robbed of their name in American English. it's not a pun if it's meant to be more than a joke. if you notice a pun into what seems a serious message, you feel betrayed, automatically, because now you know--*know*--it wasn't worth any serious consideration, because it was just a stupid joke
