BREAKING: Yuval Abraham, co-director of Oscar-winning documentary "No Other Land," says Israeli settlers beat his co-director Hamdan Ballal, injuring his head and stomach — and then Israeli soldiers invaded the ambulance he was in and seized him.

Ballal's whereabouts are now unknown.

some years ago, as part of our team’s work addressing racist pseudoscience, my colleagues Stasia (researcher) & Alyssa (graphic designer) put together this infographic to provide some clarity about direct-to-consumer genetic testing. these companies market to particular populations for a reason.
Flowchart showing (and titled) “the supply chain of genetic testing kits” with two intersecting sides labeled “what Kayla wants” and “what Kayla doesn’t know.” Graphics show how after she purchases an at-home genetic testing kit and mails in her DNA spit sample, in addition to returning her results to Kayla, they make her data available to pharmaceutical companies for research, which they use to develop products people like Kayla may eventually pay to use. Also, Kayla may upload her results to a genealogy site to find family, unknowingly exposing her family’s similar genetic data to law enforcement or other entities with access to those sites without their consent. The bottom quarter of this flowchart is titled “Outcomes” and highlights that testing companies profit, big pharmaceutical companies profit, individuals pay more, and their data is exploited.
