If Maduro’s capture had been a Justice Department-led operation, it would be reasonable to expect the Judiciary Committee to receive a full briefing on the attack. But the administration did not brief the committee.

Sad. Those who think this operation was about the illegal capture of Maduro rather than a massive armed robbery by the US of Ven oil are either not paying attention or consciously regurgitating admin spin. The reality: Giving him a pass on this only invites more disasters.
Some Democrats hate that their party is largely positioning itself in opposition to the operation that resulted in Maduro's capture.

"Everything Trump touches must be bad according to the base," one House Dem told @axios.com

Said another: "It looks weak." www.axios.com/2026/01/04/m...

During Fiona Hill's testimony to Congress on Oct 14, 2019, she described how Trump and Putin discussed exchanging Ukraine for Venezuela. The quid pro quo was if Trump refuses to help Ukraine fight off a Russian invasion, Putin would not help Venezuela (a Russian ally) resist a US takeover.

I don’t understand how the first reaction from leadership isn’t “This is an impeachable offense. My colleagues must defund Hegseth and begin drafting articles immediately.”

Like, even if it doesn’t get done, how are you not planting this flag in the ground immediately?

Once again with his usual wit and sharp tongue, Mr Fugelsang makes the clear point that the loss of trust in our government is not alarming and maybe the best response at this moment.

Translation: We found more pliable officials we can work with who won't ask too many questions about Venezuelan sovereignty
Trump on María Corina Machado: "I think it'd be very tough for her to be the leader. She doesn't have the support or the respect within the country. She's a very nice woman but she doesn't have the respect."

The simple explanation ⤵️
Marco Rubio wants regime change in Cuba to avenge his family and win the accolades of the Cuban diaspora; Maduro has been propping up the Castro regime with free oil.

Also: I don't see how any intelligent and lucid person could watch this press conference and conclude that the president of the United States has anywhere near sufficient cognitive ability to properly execute the duties of his office.

I don’t think Machado realizes that engineering an installation by Trump without a democratic process is going to sink her legitimacy and credibility and turn a good share of the non-Chavista Venezuelan people against her pretty fast. It’s the ultimate Faustian bargain
FOX & FRIENDS: What do you think is next for the Venezuelan people now that you have removed Maduro so he can face American justice?

TRUMP: Well, we're making that decision now. We can't take a chance on letting somebody else run it, just take over where he left off. So we're making that decision

Fox News' Bret Baier basically just said this whole Madura "capture" thing was a negotiated exit, and implied we'll hear more about "the orchestration behind the scenes" soon.

This rings true to me.

The US killed Venezuelan citizens as a distraction to help Trump, Maduro and Hegseth save face.

I was wondering what Mamdani's first executive order would be, and I'm not disappointed by this.

He has wiped off the books EVERY Eric Adams executive order issued on or after September 26, 2024, the day Adams was indicted on federal bribery charges.
