In 2023, 76% of undergraduates attended a public institution of higher education, according to IPEDS (long may it last!).

Well, here we are again--we're finally going to get the executive order telling the Secretary to close the Department of Education. Maybe.

We made a nice, short explainer on all the things that an EO cannot do by itself, namely close ED or move many its programs to other agencies.
I'm super excited to share this short brief on who has power over the Department of Education, what the ED Sec can do, and what Executive Orders can do.

As I look at all the jobs that are being eliminated at ED, with so many concentrated in OCR, IES, and FSA, it looks more and more to me like Stephen Miller is behind these attacks as part of his larger agenda against civil rights and opportunity for all, or what he calls wokeness. bit.ly/4iJKSCu
