For any Mainer who has any doubts about Graham Platner, this article will clear them up.

You’re Being Lied to About Graham Platner
We read Graham Platner’s whole Reddit archive. The vilification of the Maine candidate for Senate doesn’t square with what he actually wrote in his posts.

What's happened to Bluesky? All of a sudden I'm getting stuff I never signed up for and don't want, mostly "artwork" and soft porn. Blocking them only seems to invite more. I thought we were supposed to have more control over our feed. Am I doing something wrong?

In a horrifying article about the dangers of Teslas, one point stands out: Teslas automatically disengage self-driving mode <1 second before an imminent crash--not enough time for the driver to react, but enough for Tesla to deny responsibility for fatal crashes, since self-driving "wasn't engaged."

What scientists? He's already kicked out all the government scientists, and the others don't give a flip what he says, nor should they.

All this new crap about how awful Joe Biden was makes me suspect they're trying to distract us from something else horrible that they're doing. What is it? Can somebody please find out, so we can pay attention to that instead? It's too late to worry about Biden now; we have worse problems.

We haven't heard anything lately about the proposed visit to Fort Knox. Has anybody checked to see if its contents are still there? Did anybody "visit" and try to pull off a heist while everybody was looking at something else? One wonders.

Has anybody heard of any violence in connection with any of yesterday's protests? I've seen none in any of the pictures or tapes I've seen. Which is as it should be.

Henry VIII ordered dissolution of the monasteries in 1500s England. The comparison is striking, and people then must have felt much like the way we feel: dazed, stunned, feeling as if their whole world has shifted and with no way to fight back. Nothing is ever new. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dissolu...

Due to recent layoffs & hiring freezes at NOAA, there are fewer weather balloons sampling this system as it moves & develops.
The remaining meteorologists are warning that this system may be quite significant but advise that their datasets are incomplete at best & lack complete analysis.

Ugh I also didn’t think of this. In very rare circumstances, like severe DV or witness protection, we can issue entirely new SSNs to those people. And also, in that same vein, we, as well as DHS and USCIS, will have records for victims of severe human trafficking who immigrated here for safety.
Something O'Malley brought up recently that I had forgotten about: SSA has records of people in witness protection, as well as people in hiding due to domestic abuse. And SSA is just letting a few unvetted little assholes scan through it without the access breadcrumbs that an employee would leave.

SCOOP: These are the 10 DOGE operatives inside the Social Security Administration. The team appears to be among the largest DOGE units deployed to any government agency. This includes a number of young engineers whose presence has not been reported. Read the full story:

Hate that it has come to this, but it's time to consider PubMed vulnerable to enshittification. My latest post @plos.org discusses the lines we need to fight to hold – and alternatives we can rely on internationally:

PubMed is incredibly reliable. And a lot depends on it. It’s an ecosystem built around MEDLINE, the steady feed of new publications…

I ordered four prescriptions from the same provider in one phone call this month, for a total of $103.00. They were available on different days, so I suggested they wait and mail them all out in the same package. Instead I got four packages. Is this one reason our prescription drugs cost so much?
