Refuge America was born from lived experience — a reminder that safety and belonging should never be privileges.

We showed up, side by side, for the Million Walk for Menopause on the West Side — a reminder that when neighbors, and advocates come together, we can break stigma, uplift one another, and build a healthier community for all. 💜

Public defender Eli Northrup is running again for District 69 Assembly seat
Eli Northrup, candidate for New York State Assembly’s District 69 seat, did not always want to be a politician. But that all changed when he started witnessing inequities as a lawyer.

The new administration is ready to lead. Now we must come together to support both the transition and governance—proving that progressive leadership delivers.

C’est la vie.
At 6:47 p.m., I arrived at the poll site and a young man with a press badge said, “Oh, you’re Edafe?” Then asked, “Can I take your portrait?”
“I’ll make sure you get a pic on your Wikipedia page tonight,” he said.
What a way to close this chapter.

Change doesn’t come from one politician it comes from the systems we build and the empathy we lead with.

I told The Spectator my hope for a new mayoral administration one that centers immigrants, asylum seekers & displaced people in city policy.

I fled persecution for speaking my truth. Now in America, I fight so freedom of speech isn’t silenced here too. Our voices matter. Speak up. Be louder.
September 20, 2025 at 5:40 PM
Firing people, especially comedians, for airing their opinions is meant to scare everyday people from speaking out. It’s a page from the authoritarian playbook, and it’s a scare tactic we must resist.

The Right is coming for legal immigration next—and Democrats have no plan to fight back.

Immigrant communities can’t be left defenseless. The stakes are too high. We need courage and a long-term strategy to resist these attacks.

🚨Children as young as FOUR are being forced to face immigration court alone in New York City.
That isn’t justice — it’s misdirection.
New Yorkers protect kids.
We welcome immigrants.
We fight for working people.

🚨 Outrageous: ICE has arrested the first under-18 in NYC under Trump-era raids. A 6-year-old public school student & her mother deported just weeks before school starts.

This is Family Separation 2.0—a shameful stain on our nation. We must end policies that tear families apart.

It’s time to wean our local politics off big money. www.Edafe2025.com

Every politician says, “The system is broken.”
But what good is re-electing the same people who admit it—and do nothing to fix it?

I’m running for City Council to take local politics back from the billionaires and give power back to the people.

Join the fight.

The middle class is vanishing. Inequality is deepening.
Yet too many politicians chase billionaire donors. Until the Democratic Party kicks its addiction to big money, it won’t be a party that fights for everyday people.
July 28, 2025 at 4:16 PM
Real reform means breaking the Democratic Party’s dependence on big donors and corporate interests.

That’s why I’m running as an independent this November—to put working people first.

To every volunteer, donor, voter, and neighbor: thank you.

We didn’t win this primary—but we did something powerful. As a refugee who never fully felt at home, the 7,500+ of you who ranked me first made me feel seen, heard, and deeply loved.

You gave me the gift of belonging.
