Refuge America was born from lived experience — a reminder that safety and belonging should never be privileges.

We stand with LGBTQ people seeking safety across the U.S. as they rebuild, find community, and share their stories of resilience and hope. refugeamerica.org

We showed up, side by side, for the Million Walk for Menopause on the West Side — a reminder that when neighbors, and advocates come together, we can break stigma, uplift one another, and build a healthier community for all. 💜

C’est la vie.
At 6:47 p.m., I arrived at the poll site and a young man with a press badge said, “Oh, you’re Edafe?” Then asked, “Can I take your portrait?”
“I’ll make sure you get a pic on your Wikipedia page tonight,” he said.
What a way to close this chapter.

A new dawn in our city politics.
November 5, 2025 at 2:46 AM
Change doesn’t come from one politician it comes from the systems we build and the empathy we lead with.

I told The Spectator my hope for a new mayoral administration one that centers immigrants, asylum seekers & displaced people in city policy.

Knock on those doors to get Zohran Mamdani into City Hall

“When we go knock on doors … we’re not doing it because we’re going to sleep tomorrow, but because we want to be a part of the conversation.”

🚨Children as young as FOUR are being forced to face immigration court alone in New York City.
That isn’t justice — it’s misdirection.
New Yorkers protect kids.
We welcome immigrants.
We fight for working people.

🚨 Outrageous: ICE has arrested the first under-18 in NYC under Trump-era raids. A 6-year-old public school student & her mother deported just weeks before school starts.

This is Family Separation 2.0—a shameful stain on our nation. We must end policies that tear families apart.

It’s time to wean our local politics off big money. www.Edafe2025.com

Every politician says, “The system is broken.”
But what good is re-electing the same people who admit it—and do nothing to fix it?

I’m running for City Council to take local politics back from the billionaires and give power back to the people.

Join the fight.

Real reform means breaking the Democratic Party’s dependence on big donors and corporate interests.

That’s why I’m running as an independent this November—to put working people first.

“I spent 18 months building something for my community. Bill Ackman, Uber & Bloomberg spent 18 days tearing it down with thousands in outside spending.” edafeokporo.substack.com/p/the-trap-o...

The best way to change the system is to dare to participate.

The campaign didn’t end with the primary.

These moments—with real neighbors, real stories—remind me why we’re in this.

To every volunteer, donor, voter, and neighbor: thank you.

We didn’t win this primary—but we did something powerful. As a refugee who never fully felt at home, the 7,500+ of you who ranked me first made me feel seen, heard, and deeply loved.

You gave me the gift of belonging.

Today’s the day.

Let’s go out and vote for a grassroots champion—someone who knows what it means to fight for housing, health care, and a New York City we can all afford.

I’m not backed by billionaires or political insiders. I’m backed by the people.

I’m proud to have the support and endorsement from former New York Attorney General Candidate Zephyr Teachout. Her leadership and determination to root out big money inspires me everyday.

Let’s win this!

It’s Juneteenth Freedom Day, and I voted for myself on the ballot. It’s a wonderful sight to behold—and even more special to share the moment with my pal William Brown, who ran the shelter and food pantry with me at St. Mary’s Church. It’s beautiful all around.

Defend Harlem featured me in their Zine — it’s truly a zero-to-hero journey. From where I started to now standing up for Harlem, the community I love, this means everything to me.

We’re just 2 days into early voting, and the energy on the ground is incredible. From neighbors talking to neighbors, to volunteers knocking doors and making calls, we’re showing what’s possible when everyday people come together to build a better future.
