I’ve finally been able to get into Eaton Hamilton here after years shut out, so I’m going to use it for writing. Please join me at @hamiltonart.bsky.social for updates on my paintings.

I’ve lately finished writing two new books, a novel and a memoir. Three cheers!

Someone called me Canadian cultural treasure this week after reading one of my story collections. Since I am largely forgotten, it was sweet to hear.

Was thinking of Ellen Seligman today when I was contemplating developmental editing at publishing houses, and how (we all?) mourn its loss.

I have a week off for medical appts (5), so I’ve been reading, cleaning and caring for 500 mason bee cocoons (see under Gardening). I read this book that was stylistically maybe a grade four level—but it’s a bestseller with 4M ratings on GR. Proving again that I don’t live in the same world.

NOW IN PAPERBACK! From Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award–winning author Louise Erdrich, a tender novel about love, fate, and the fragile threads that bind us to each other. Erdrich beautifully braids together climate grief, spiritual longing, and the ache of wanting something just out of reach.
