World Energy Outlook 2025

In short, over coming decades, increasing demand for electricity in India, SE Asia, Middle East, Africa and Latin America will drive increasing demand for oil & gas and growth in renewables.

That means more CO2, methane, global heating and climate change impacts. ☹️ #COP30

"Ethical alternatives: brands to buy from if you boycott Israeli apartheid."

Please, join us in boycotting israel. Do it for Palestine. Do it for humanity. And also do it because capitalism and imperialism suck! And also, support Ethical Consumer.
Ethical alternatives: brands to buy from if you boycott Israeli apartheid | Ethical Consumer
Boycotting brands that are complicit in Palestinian human rights violations is a powerful form of consumer activism, but how ethical is the product you buy instead?

In 1987, a management consultancy concluded that the Netherlands should aim for a coal economy by 2050 ('cheap and abundant'). At Ecofys, we were surprised: can't be, we'd ruin our climate.
CO2 was at 350 ppm, global temperature at +0.6°C.
Now, 38 years later, I read: first tipping point reached.

The bbc focussing on what the ceasefire means for the hostages way more than what it means for Gazans, again seeing that disproportionately we’ve become accustomed to for years, this isn’t new, and it’s certainly not ok

The ongoing obstruction of essential, life-saving aid destined for #Gaza by way of #UNRWA must be viewed as profoundly regrettable. That world leaders have collectively been unable to exert sufficient pressure to ensure the unimpeded and consistent flow of this aid—
unrwa.org UNRWA @unrwa.org · Oct 13
Only UNRWA can deliver lifesaving aid at the scale #Gaza needs. We have the network, the experience, and the trust of the community.

The State of Israel must let UNRWA bring in the huge amount of aid that has been blocked in our warehouses in Jordan and Egypt since 2nd March.
Let UNRWA do its work.

This article, penned in 1912, isn't just a relic of the past—it's a chilling reminder that our understanding of humanity's impact on the Earth isnt a newfangled concept. The furnaces of industry, devouring millions of tons of coal, were recognised then as altering the very fabric of our atmosphere.
