Congrats to my undergraduate student Vicky Gao for being selected as the recipient of ASBPA Student Educational Award. This award was given to her because of research on factors contributing to red tides in the Southwest Florida Gulf.

Congrats to my PhD student Samiul for being awarded $30,000 grant from Everglades Foundation. This competitive grant is for his research proposal on improving the projection of future precipitation events in South Florida. He's now a ForEverglades Fellow.

Aging US dams face increasing overtopping risks due to changing hydrologic conditions. A study in Nature Communications evaluates 33 dams using updated frequency analysis and identifies six dams with the greatest probability, posing risks to downstream populations. go.nature.com/3IMV4xH 🧪

New paper in @agu.org WRR. Led by my PhD student, we introduced a loss function to incorporate the uncertainty of flood observations (HWMs) in hindcasting water depths via ML models. Thanks to NSF & NASEM for their financial support.
