I'm a Canadian astronomer who is always working hard to promote #astronomy education by encouraging people, especially young people, to spend some time looking up. 🔭

I'm also the owner and operator of a small portable planetarium.
Happy New Year!! 🥳

…2024 has been a horrible year!

I’m hoping 2025 will be better. Perhaps I’ll post more in the new year.

The total solar eclipse is now less than a month away. Are you still looking for solar eclipse glasses? I have 3000 of them in stock and ready to ship, but only to Canadian addresses. Here is the link…

Students can build their own model of Orion with low-cost material, understanding that constellations aren't really formed by stars near one to the other and learning about mythology and astronomical distances with this astroEDU activity from our NAEC Team Morocco astroedu.iau.org/en/activitie...

So, getting back to my last post, regarding using a CF-104 StarFighter as a giant gnomen and creating the world’s largest sundial, this is what it would sort of look like. Thanks Google Maps! 🔭

Today, I brought the AstroDome Planetarium to the small town of Innisfail, Alberta, Canada. This town is home to a rather impressive CF-104 StarFighter. I’ve encouraged the citizens of this town to turn it into the world’s biggest sundial. 😆

Today, more than 100 Grade 6 students at Crossing Park School in Calgary, Alberta, Canada looked at the Moon, next to Jupiter, inside my portable planetarium. In just one hour, they will get to see both of them in the evening sky.

Keep Looking Up! 🔭

Are you in Toronto and looking for something to do with your kids this week? If so, maybe you would like to watch "Asteroid Hunters" on the big screen at the Ontario Science Centre. This IMAX movie is narrated by Star Wars star Daisy Ridley. It also features a "cameo appearance" by me! 😆

NASA will be launching the Europa Clipper in October, if all goes according to schedule. You can send your name to Jupiter onboard this spacecraft. 🚀

The deadline to add your name was supposed to be December 31, 2023. However, for some reason, they're still accepting names, but you better hurry!
