These administrative changes and their repercussions remind me of when friends who had plans for their dissertations right around 2020 had to massively pivot due to the COVID-19 pandemic...Obviously that was a bigger issue but also screwed over lots of careers.

Conversations about gender, politics, or anything emotionally value-laden with family of origin is like walking into a trap of transphobia and expected conformity. I rarely feel so demoralized or doubtful of my worth or reality. It seems intractable.
