It's been a hard two weeks. Our lovely tortie suddenly got sick with cancer and had to be put down today at home. This photo was from earlier today. She was a wonderful friend and we tried to make her last day as calm and happy as we could. The vet who assisted her was a true gift. I'm just so sad.

If Trump pushes for drug cartels to be recognized as foreign terrorist organizations (FTOs) instead of transnational criminal organizations (FCOs), I don't think that it's going to end well for Trump, or the rest of his cabinet. I don't think the Secret Service has the resources to deal with this.

Currently using ChatGPT 5.0 to check my civil engineering plan sets against the California Building Code/etc. It's amazingly good at checking specs and doing structural calculations. Thankfully the damn thing doesn't have a PE stamp (at least yet).

Just finished watching "How to Train Your Dragon (2025)". Was this remake needed? Absolutely not. Did I like it? Hell yes. Gerald Butler did an amazing job, but in the end (for me), it was all about Toothless. More Toothless is good. That's all.

Any reporting from the White House or DOD that reports, "Severe Damage" from the MOP strikes is making shit up. "Severe Damage" is a nuclear damage term. The only way to know what happened from a conventional attack is ground truth. The ground truth from Iraq was not pretty. Not at all.

Well, shit. That was a dumb thing to do. FYI, I worked those targets back when I was advising JWS-4 (Physical Vulnerability) at the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA). I would be very surprised if any of the MOPs was able to do anything other than a brief functional defeat on any of the sites. Dumb.
