Mostly PC Engine and PC-FX reverse-engineering and development. I also contribute to MiSTer FPGA cores and a Mednafen fork. (hobby).
Finally starting to (slowly) dig into that TRS-80 TC-8 tape device from JPC Products, circa 1980.
Reading the EPROM was a challenge; National Semi MM27C16Q was reading on my TL866 programmer, but verify (to confirm) was coming up with LOTS of different data, failing to verify.

I've been following Renesas' SLG479xx FPGAs since they were announced in 2021, and infromation has been hard to find for most of this time.
The 2K LUT devices now have published datasheets, much more quickly than the 1K LUT devices did.
But sadly, none of these are aimed at prototyping.

Tenshi no Uta is coming to Switch.
Hoping this will be great.
The Cosmic Fantasy translations were "stretch goals" on the Japanese crowdfunding, and I wasn't a big fan - this wasn't done as a stretch goal, so maybe it'll get better treatment.

Each time I feel that life is becoming too serious, I remember some paintings in Japan which are important cultural artificats, and hang in prestigious museums and art gallerys.

The compression used in (PC Engine) Ys 4 and Emerald Dragon (etc.) was pretty simple.
But when I wrote a compressor for it, I found that my compressor had a better compression ratio than the actual game. WHAT !?
Hudson's compressor must have had some kind of bug.

Good article on how to disable AI features on Chrome/Google search:
(Some items are different than my install - the author may be on a development build - but most work great)

The french for eggnog (at least on the cartons here in Ontario) seems to be "lait de poule".

Each time I see this, I think "chicken milk", which seems wrong on several levels...

Just a first peek of the TC-8 internals - not a full teardown yet.
Earlier, I didn't remember where the driver software was - after opening it up, I realized that this had a daughterboard with a PROM on it, so the driver software didn't need to be loaded from tape.

Watching YouTube videos in French makes me feel terrible about my French ability, even though I studied it all through school.

HOWEVER, I realized:
Turning on (French) subtitles improves my comprehension substantially !
...In-person interactions don't come with subtitles though.

The Pro Fighter Turbo SNES copier has "Gold Finger" ROM patches for 350 games built-in. Both the game names and codes are mostly stored in plaintext format in the copier's ROM. When loading a game from disk, the copier gives you the option of auto-patching the game (with all codes at once for it).

Let's take a quick look at Sega's 1991 beat-em-up Riot City, a supposedly Japanese only game that has an English localization hidden away, as well as a little known alternate, spicy ending...

There were really a lot of hardware add-ons for the TRS-80 Model 1 back around 1980, most of which nobody remembers today. I found my old Model 1 packed away, and it has the "Holmes Engineering 48K Internal Memory". Here's a longer list of those hardware items:

Back in the days of do-it-yourself PC Board etching, long before CAD for PCBs, it was a different world.
One method was to use photoresist; it was possible to buy dry-transfer templates of footprints to apply to a clear layer, and expose it to light.

Cleaning up some memories from the basement of my parents' house.
I wonder if anybody else out there knows what this is, or perhaps had one ? (I know what it is, but not sure where the software driver is at the moment).
It seems to have been somewhat rare even back in the day.

This evening, my Windows 11 computer displayed a series of popup messages stating that there was a "problem with an app" so it "updated the file association", over and over until it had re-associated all files back to Microsoft defaults.
What problem? Using other software is a problem?
