I was switching between Famicom & PCE/TG16 games and was annoyed at how PCE screens were shifted to the left compared to Fami. So I did some measurements: the Fami's active pixels start ~7.6us after the end of HSync while the PCE's can be 7.0us (early) or 8.47us (late), but never the same as Fami :/

This time on PC-88 Paradise, it's LAST ARMAGEDDON! Can I make it through this infamously player-unfriendly game? And how does the original version compare to the ports for the PC Engine, Famicom, and other systems? Find out in the video!

Started getting a lot of spam chat requests here, so I had to change settings to "only users I follow".
Just so you know.

It would be nice if BlueSky had an intermediate choice - for example, people who follow me for a certain period of time first (or something like that).

Apparently, I'm not finished with the XE-1AP/CyberStick code on MiSTer.
Christoph Smaul showed me that there is a protocol difference between "computer" and "console" settings on the XE-1AP, and a converter is needed to use the CyberStick on a MegaDrive.

New interview! A followup to a recent post where I unearthed a 2008 interview with turboxray, who was doing cool things with the PC Engine.

Well near enough 18 years later he's doing more cool stuff! I asked about Ghouls n Ghosts for the SuperGrafx, Street Fighter, Bonk and Dracula X!

This CrowdSupply item - the ESP32JTAG - just went live, and it has a lot more functionality than I thought it would when I first heard about it.

Impressive.

Also, 40% of the way to its target, and it only started a few hours ago.

Has anybody determined the pinout of the HuC6202 video priority chip used in the SuperGrafx ? I can't seem to find it online.
It seems like it could be re-implemented in silicon pretty easily, so that SuperGrafx machines wouldn't need to be sacrificed.

wrote up a bit of info on a less common US revision of Micro Machines for the NES, featuring a pretty nasty bug, discovered just a little too late and then worked around by using a PLD to patch a single *bit*. this is what day one patches looked like in 1991!

That's an interesting behaviour and effect.
It matches the "early 90s" animation style.
The latest version of the Taito F2 core fixes the shadows in PuLiRuLa so they "shimmer" like you see in the video. The shadows are just the character sprites drawn with a black color palette and scaled down vertically. So what makes them shimmer?

I'm not sure how I feel about Qualcomm's purchase of Arduino - I just don't see what they have in common.

Since I've moved on to other microcontrollers, it doesn't really affect me though.

But maybe Qualcomm is planning a line of microcontollers ? More competition is probably a good thing.
