I think a compromise of 18 years (2 senate 9 house terms) in the legislature as a cap would be best. There would always be a group in every congress that would be termed out and not up for reelection. Giving just enough people reason to buck their party party while keeping experience

While I agree on this I also feel this would just empower lobbyists and staffers because each election would bring new people who don’t know about all the inns and outs of legislating. They would end on being even more feckless and vulnerable to influence.

I agree but I can’t imagine any good ways to break the root cause of this wild state we find ourselves in. the individual realities conundrum I’ve been thinking on it for years and I’m sorry to say I have no answers that I like.

Taking folk who aren't legally here+deporting them is a political question.You may be for or against it, but it is completely legal to deport them.HOW YOU DO SO is what makes it constitutional or unconstitutional.Things like habeas corpus for example are crucial protections for us all.
Any of this unconstitutional bullshit they’re pulling. The entire system of ICE and, if technically legal, morally putrid approach to any of this. Borderline Brownshirt activity lately. If you’re an ICE agent carrying this out I’m not gonna feel sorry when people push back at you.

Assuming the June 14th "no kings" protests happen, I hope you all find one near you and join in. I've heard (but don't know if it's true) that if only 3% of us show up it's a monumental force. Let's hope we can get there before too long!

The only thing that gives me hope is the fact that the people around trump as advisors and cabinet members are complete morons and they go about doing all this in the most inefficient way possible that makes everything harder for them than it otherwise could be.But I’m still nervous to say the least

I think it’s because people see their standard of living eroding and are looking to place blame. Social media algorithms amplify what gets engagement. Things like “it’s immigrants fault for everything” generates a lot of anger both in support and against. Add an information echo chamber and boom
