A/Prof of Environmental Policy Fenner School, Australian National University. Research on the Anthropocene - especially wildfires, biodiversity, climate change, and nature-based solutions. All views my own. New to Blue Sky and might not be here often
Looking forward to running a 'mini' Choice dialogue about #wildfires at #TCESG25 at 1 pm in Marathon B. We'll also be covering some of our global expert survey results and how to facilitate public conversations about controversial policy issues.

Both RESIDENTS and VISITORS can take the survey here: bit.ly/ANUvalues

Our paper explores how people from minority ethnic backgrounds experience urban and rural green spaces. Recounting both positive and negative experiences, participants expressed nuanced ideas about exclusion, empowerment, and agency.

One of my favourites from @akpalmer.bsky.social's PhD research!
OnlineFirst - "In and out of place: Diverse experiences and perceived exclusion in UK greenspace settings" by @akpalmer.bsky.social, Mark Riley, @drsarahclement.bsky.social, Karl L Evans, Laurence Jones, Beth FT Brockett, and Victoria Opara:

This is always my favourite time of year, when ecologists lobby for their favourite eucalypt to win and tell us why. Having just come back from the @foe.org.au Snow Gum Summit, I am sure it won't surprise you which I voted for. Hopefully if they win, someone can write better poetry about them.
Red rock, white bark, blue sky – you can see it, can’t you. The ethereal beauty of the Ghost Gum, whether as twisted shrubs clinging gamely to steep gorges or stately trees rising above the dry and dusty plain.
Is this your #EucalyptoftheYear2025? Vote now: eucalyptaustralia.org.au/eucalypt-of-...

I have only just joined, and my feed is full of cats and interesting plants. I am pleased with this.

And in true academic fashion, my first post is shameless self-promotion.

We're having a book launch for the new edition of Environment & Sustainability!
