I don’t know how to deal with the white, cis-het men who pump their arms and say well gosh darn we’ll just keep trying as if this gives them progressive creds. As if they don’t just go back to easier lives. I’m just so very, very tired and I know I’m not the only one.

The whole “both sides” thing is a trap. Those w/ a good vs evil view don’t believe it bc the other side is evil. Those who get that the world is complicated & we need to listen to people’s stories know there are a million sides. All that matters is if you take care of other people when they need it.

I’ve been going through a thing, certainly related to the collapse of civility in the US. My job has been chewing me up, and I haven’t been able to prioritize my book, or the things that make me feel like I can make anything better. People out and about seem angry, pushy, on edge. Not kind.

The problem is not (as MAGA claims) that America isn’t “Christian” enough. It’s that mainstream evangelical Christianity in America has served white supremacy too long. They’ve turned Christianity into justification for terror. Yes, this has happened before. No, I don’t think Jesus would approve.

I feel like many of us need a dose of “you get to.” You get to be angry. You get to grieve. You get to say what’s in your heart. You get to object to heartlessness. You get to fight to protect those you love. You get to say no. You get to keep your values and morals in place no matter what they say.

So when Leavitt says Trump is focusing on the ballroom she means the bunker. And he’s focused on it because all he knows how to do now is paste gold stickers on the wall. And the bunker is being built so they can enact the dictatorship before a) he dies and b) people get fed up.
