This is a really great idea!
Tell folks to come donate food items. Let them know you'll be there to answer questions about the shutdown. Invite reporters and content creators for interviews. Make it a thing.

@audrelawdamercy.bsky.social - your book left me feeling encouraged in much the same way as Heather McGhee’s The Sun of Us did. I appreciate ideas for empowering democracy - they are concrete and helpful to help others begin to think of who we could be rather than who we are.

@audrelawdamercy.bsky.social - just finished your book. I love “inclusive constitutionalism” as a theory of law. My son is considering law school- would you be able to suggest places that teach this? Thank you so much!

Do any knitters and spinners know how to make cat hair into yarn? Just finished vacuuming. I have 1 cat and the volume of hair I just picked up indicates there are at least 6 more.

My 88 yr old father and I got out Covid and flu shots today in Massachusetts. It was effortless and we are grateful to live in a well-educated blue state.

I preached my final sermon today! After 35 years I am officially retired. What trouble will I find myself in now that I can go away for the weekend!

Just finished @leahlitman.bsky.social “Lawless.” Well-written and argued. I knew how bad it is, but the intentional cruelty of SCOTUS jumps off the page. I have been sick to my stomach and had trouble sleeping. If you weren’t convinced that our democracy is at risk, pls read this book.

Clergy and lay leader folks- I am wondering how we might organize an on-line prayer vigil for President Biden. I am not a tech person. Are there folks interested who might be able to help?

Decorating this shelf on my porch each season brings me joy. I knit the eggs and flowers & painted the wooden tulips. It makes me happy as I go in and out and harms no one.

@warren.senate.gov We need a new minority leader! Schumer cannot do the job!

This am my son got his car stuck half in and half out in the street in the ice. We worked for 25 min & got nowhere. Local handyman stopped & cheerfully spent 40 min in 16 degree weather getting him unstuck. There are good folks doing acts of kindness still among us. Will call him for next project!

I have spent the New Year knitting smaller projects that make me smile. Here is my latest:

No weather reports, no consumer protection, no public health information, reduced care for veterans, no money to care for those who need help with food and Medicaid, etc. why is it I am paying taxes?

@warren.senate.gov - I have been trying to login to my Social Security account to download my award letter and history. Once I log in, site crashes. Anyone else experiencing this?

During lockdown, I began creating seasonal displays on my porch. I spent inauguration weekend and the week after this Jan knitting polar bears and snow people. Here they are in situ:

I refer to myself as a “Beatitudes Christian” and I found this an excellent commentary.

At noon today, a few clergy friends and I held a silent vigil with lighted candles.I signed up to the Citizen Archive Project. Reading with kindergartners tomorrow. My grandmother told us to “brighten the corner where you are.”

Tomorrow I am leading a prayer vigil. Today I knit polar bears!

When I pass Brooklyn's Grand Army Plaza, the great arch commemorating the Union's defeat of the South, every.single.time I think about how the Confederacy was an abomination and how its lies have poisoned the GOP and our nation even today. And it fuels me to resist even more fervently.

@jbf1755.bsky.social - listened to History Matters on Legacies. (B.S in history, MA ThD in theology). I experienced the Carter funeral as a requiem- the public end of decency, integrity, common good. Paraphrasing Grey” the lights are going out . . .We shall not see them lit again in our lifetime.”
