So my Sunday evening hospital scan told me I have two little hernias. No bowel involved so just have to monitor but no real concern

interesting to see that a potential postdoctoral candidate I might be supervising would be earning more than me should they gain the award. That seems odd.

The Jacks drop was poor but not quite as abysmal as TMS made out. Worth remembering the TMS box is composed of famously abysmal (and self -confessed too) fielders in Tufnell and Hartley in particular, with Aggers not far behind in the old fast bowler bracket. Zaltzman might be the best in the box

Always great listening to Raf
Happy New Year! Our latest episode is out, where Raffaele Nicholson of Bournemouth Media School helped us understand what really happened when the FA took over women’s football in 1993. Essential listening, so do like, review, share and subscibe!

England have had plenty of bad teams before, and bad coaches. This team might be the stupidest or the least game aware I’ve seen. Smith’s monumental blunder joins a long list of stupid cricket under Baz

No one can or will do anything to stop this regime. And they’ve made their targets very clear. Economic, political or military bullying until they get what they want

Lovely walk in the Wharncliffe woods today. Golden sunlight and nice crisp conditions. Only a bit of frost. Hardly anyone out but the squirrels and robins.

One of the lowest quality Ashes games I can remember. Australia’s batting was dreadful, very similar to ours in Perth. Some decent bowling on what appears to have been a tricky wicket but also very little ability to rough it out. Batters go ultra aggressive too early
