I’ve finally had time to mostly look through my road trip pictures, so it’s time to post some!
First stop was Fort Robinson in the Nebraska Panhandle. It’s has an infamous history. The small brown building is where Crazy Horse was killed. Still an interesting place to visit. Well preserved.

If you get the chance, check out Death by Lightning on Netflix. very well made, full of great actors, and a part of history that I knew very little about. I only wish it had more episodes.

I saw Nuremberg. It’s not always an easy watch as there’s some real footage mixed in there that’s harrowing to view, but I really enjoyed the film and the performances. I’m also glad they made it now, as it’s got important messaging, even if the worst people won’t recognise it, but the rest should.

Last night’s episode of The American Revolution was talking about Valley Forge. I went there two years ago. Obviously it’s a much more pleasant place in the summer. I apparently had an ancestor who served in Washington’s army. Was cool to walk in his footsteps, nearly 250 years later.

Hellboy: The Crooked Man - not as bad as its rep
Elevator to the Gallows - first Louis Malle, a good little thriller.
Lookout - out there is a good horror set at a remote lookout. This ain’t it. Points for trying though

Since Ken Burns’ new doc The American Revolution is out now, here’s a little bit of memorabilia. Earlier this year I went to the National Museum of Military vehicles in Dubois, Wy., and among a firearms display is this musket, which is credited as having fired the first shot at Bunker Hill in 1775.

A video game that should get a remake is Jurassic Park: Trespasser. But ditch the horrendous controls and just make it a normal fps.

Been to see Predator: Badlands and it was a lot of fun. Not quite as good as Prey but that's a high bar. It's really cool that in a franchise like this there's only one irredeemably bad movie (Pred2018). And since Badlands is also in the Alien-verse, chalk up another W for that franchise. #filmsky 📽️
