A strong immigration system doesn't need to be a cruel one.

It shouldn't need saying - but refugees & asylum seekers are real people, fleeing war and persecution.

This daughter of an immigrant is proud of our British and Labour values of respect and not turning our backs on people in real need.

One of the many things that annoy me in the NHS is that I'm trusted to give paralysing drugs and strong opioids, but I'm not trusted to adjust the clock on the anaesthetic machine to the correct time!

Bigger cars makes collisions more lethal, especially for pedestrians. Very few people have a good reason to drive a tank, especially in urban/suburban areas. Time to get these off the road.
Deep dive into the surge in US pedestrian deaths:

"It’s not that more pedestrians are getting hit by vehicles; it’s that the ones that are getting hit are more likely to die."

"[That] seems like fairly strong evidence for the theory that the rise in large SUVs is behind the uptick in ped deaths."
Why Are So Many Pedestrians Killed by Cars in the US?
It’s unfortunately not uncommon for pedestrians to be killed by cars in the US.

We need to talk very, very seriously about doctor workforce planning in the U.K.

Or the lack of it…

The thing is, though, there *are* plenty of conditions where patients who can make their own way to ED, be it via private car, or taxi, can - and should.

It is also true that the ambulance crisis is directly related to overflowing hospitals and crowded EDs.

But there are two issues here.
For far too long now, patients have been left waiting hours for help that should arrive in minutes.

Too many have died at home, or in ambulances stuck outside overwhelmed hospitals.

The human cost and trauma for all concerned are devastating.

Fund our NHS.

How has the UK become so ignorant?
Almost half of Britons (47%) mistakenly believe that migration to the UK is primarily illegal rather than legal.

This view is held by 72% of those who support requiring large numbers of migrants to leave

"2. Appeals will not be accepted on any other grounds, for example, that a candidate:

Seeks to question the professional or academic judgement of the examiners"

Explains why some of the examiners behave the way they do. Literally cannot be challenged on how they behave in the exam.

@mrjamesob.bsky.social It would be a start if the government foot the bill for all the additional (compulsory) costs that come with being a resident doctor… £600-£1k to sit exams, £500+ to be GMC registered, fees to pay for College membership and ~£1k for the defence union (which is not the BMA).

Read today that the London air ambulance was able to deploy 28 teams on 7/7.

Assuming that most of them came in from off days/other commitments, that's an insane amount of kit they have ready to deploy!
