Are you disabled in a sharehouse?
I just talked with a (non-Schwartz) reporter who is doing a story on sharehousing while disabled. If any of my disabled friends have experiences they want to share lmk and I'll connect you.
She's looking especially to talk to BIPOC & physically disabled people about barriers.

the storm last night was hectic, and today, half an hour after I got to work, we were advised that all who can work from home, should, given the high fire danger affecting our campus today (it is SO HOT and incredibly windy). I'm not sure 'spring' still exists as a season in Magan-djin*

Thinking is an embodied process. Understanding is fleshy. Insight is visceral. GenAI's creators imagine consciousness as a kind of computational output instead of an emergent activity of situated bodies in relation - but ofc they do, capitalists hate bodies & the west loves a body/mind dualism

Amazon's big server might be down but that doesn't mean I can't post my charts showing how fundamentally bonkers their energy consumption and associated emissions are :)
Fun fact: 2 years ago they stopped sharing their total electrical energy consumption, cool!!!

on Mon I arrived at work to find I'd left my laptop at home, had to go back & get it. I'd planned to be in the office on Wed so left my laptop there on Tues, but wound up being pretty unwell & wanted to WFH, so had to go in & fetch it. Today there's a huntsman in my laptop bag, what's the move?

If AI tools are so amazing why are all these companies trying to force their use? The regular search bar sometimes become a chatbot bar? The power button on my phone now opens an "assistant"? Adobe reader has 3 separate bits of the screen devoted to encouraging use of their stupid summary tool?

The trees are covered with mango blossoms, more than I have ever seen in the 5 years I have lived beneath them. I am worried this means they're dying?

this is an incredibly ominous beginning to a future with a largely carved out federal emergency response system
NEW: There’s a disaster unfolding in Alaska right now. And no major network is covering it.
The remnants of Typhoon Halong battered western Alaska overnight. Homes, with people in them, have literally been swept into the Bering Strait.
At least 20 are missing. No comment from any federal agency.

I wrote a 15 page report on heraldic symbolism in medieval armor and weapon design for my art history class the night before it was due (8am class). Made up 90% of it (only found one book for reference) and got an A. GenAI could fucking never.

So glad to have friend-of-the-show Dr Anastasia Kanjere back on to help us think through expressions of fascism here in the settler-colony - this is part of our ongoing series on fascist affects, politics, and expressions in the streets and pop culture
On this morning's show we're playing an interview with anti-fascist scholar Dr Anastasia Kanjere on the links between fascism & the broader political realities in the settler-colony, & the affective tools fascists use to make themselves victims & obfuscate their violence @4zzzradio.bsky.social

As we face down daylight savings time and the annoyance of being in slightly different timezones from colleagues, and the annual 'should QLD have daylight savings? should anyone?' discourse, I propose a solution: 4 hour work day as standard. More hours for morning and evening leisure for all

I've been producing community radio for about 9 years. I still have radio-related nightmares on the reg the night before a show. Reflecting how my usual cycling route has been unavailable (since MARCH), last night's nightmare featured multi-modal mishaps, a lost car, a lost bike, a lost laptop
