The kidneys regulate EPO based on oxygen levels. In #CKD, impaired sensing leads to anemia. 🏗️ Proximal tubule hypoxia plays a key role, while #HIF and #SGLT2i therapies may restore EPO production. #RenalPhysiology #Anemia

🔬 NT-proBNP & HF Risk in CKD ❤️ Standard NT-proBNP cut-off (125 pg/mL) misclassifies CKD patients. A study (18,261 pts) found eGFR-specific cut-offs improved risk prediction (NRI 19-55%). Adjusting for kidney function enhances HF assessment.

🩺 Finerenone: For CKD + T2D. Fewer hormonal side effects and stronger anti-inflammatory & anti-fibrotic effects.
⚠️ Consider renal function and risk of hyperkalemia.

🔬 New concept in nephrology: DMANDs (Disease-Modifying Anti-Nephropathic Drugs) are defined.

📌 Requirements:
✅ Reduce disease activity
✅ Prevent kidney damage
✅ Minimize toxicity

🚀 Goal: Improve treatments and avoid non-selective immunosuppressants.
