While reviewing for #CHI2026, I've noticed four new writing issues in #HCI papers, likely due to an increased use of #LLMs / #AI. I describe them here - and how to fix them: dbuschek.medium.com/when-llms-wr...

Being an AC for #chi2026 has been interesting so far. I’m senior reviewer for 7 papers and reviewer for 6.
- 4 assisted desk rejects (ADR)
- 2 more should have been ADR
- only 1 useless ChatGPT review.
- 5 reviews where text doesn’t justify the recommendation clearly (that I asked them to fix)

Yessssss. First agree-to-review for #chi2026 from a world leading professor. It was worth asking busy people :)

This is how @sainsburys.bsky.social sells 50% extra juice . Careful colour groups. Blue for orange and green for apple. And green for orange. We now have 2 orange and 2 orange. Just went back for 2 apple to meet original shopping list.

It’s possible my slack is getting an AI upgrade. But I’m not totally sure. I think possibly 25 more email confirmations would help.

The #chi2025 closing keynote: Masako Wakamiya - who built her first iPhone app at the age of 81. She is reflecting on the way that technology played a role in society for older women in Japanese society: eg Microsoft excel being used for art and creativity in the 1990s. Design for 100 years of life.
