UTTERLY SURREAL LOW ANGLE GLACIER SLIDE!! 😮😱

On Saturday at 11:00 am, a 2 km-long, 25 m-high, and 150-200 m in width section detached off the Ismoil Somoni Glacier (Tajikistan) and slid down the gorge! 🧊🌊

Seems like the right time to share this wonderful moment again, now with subtitles and some context at the beginning about what they were talking about before Jeff Goldblum shared a George Bernard Shaw quote with Stephen Colbert.

Excellent opinion piece about the vision of HC in Canada.

A reckoning is coming in regards to the future of HC in Canada, and whatever party is in power after this election may decide the fate of public HC across the nation.

It's just one gem after another, e.g.: "The American elites of the past 20 years have called their foremost principle freedom, but what they meant was impunity."
This long-form article by @stephenmarche.bsky.social paints pictures of America like the human geography stories of National Geographic magazine, skillfully told by a Canadian who has lived the experience. Highly recommended.

I watched the Leader's Debate last night. Take away impressions: Poilievre carries a lot of grievances. Blanchet defends la Francophonie. Carney wants to lead a nation. Singh wants to make sure Canadians are ok. If the last three could work together cooperatively, we might really have something.

The biggest wins Canadians are proud of – like dental care, birth control, and safer workplaces – – only happened because people voted NDP.

We’ve done more with a few seats than others have with a majority.

Your vote gets results. We’ve proven it.

Look at the usual array of sources of power in the US: none have been able - so far - to reign in 47. Dems? Billionaires? courts? mass protests? international community? Elections? all no. Perhaps a stock market crash and a tanking economy? Well, that's up next.

The Conservatives are showing their true face. Driving a truck around key ridings accusing the Liberal leader of hanging out with a paedophile predator is sickening.
Add to this the threats to break up the country.
It's the traitor and the dregs of humanity roadshow.
Flush them.
