Anecdotally aware for the first time in a long time of many people cancelling plans due to illness.
Nice that people are being considerate, & fits all the evidence of prevalent severe flu and other respiratory diseases right now.

COVID, influenza etc are airborne, transmitted in bioaerosols that require routine wear of N95 / FFP2/3 respirators and high-quality ventilation to stop. If your hospital doesn't have both, the people making those decisions either don't care if you get infected, or are nearly a century out of date.

CO2 levels from an event I attended. Sensor was in my jacket on a chair inside. CO2 was low from 5 - 8pm. The only change was one person 'felt cold' & closed windows.
One person having the ability to quickly and dramatically change air quality for many shows public health is part of architecture.

From my experience most businesses never clean up vent covers. Airflow on this one did not move a piece of toilet paper before wiping away dust 🤮. I.e. no ventilation until wiped down. A quick clean still left lots of dust, but did improve air flow.

If COVID were primarily prevented by handwashing, we'd expect it to surge in water-scarce regions the way true water-washed diseases do.
The fact that it is surging in high-income countries with excellent hygiene is far more consistent with airborne spread than "wash your hands harder"

That's an absolutely awesome result.

Wow, this almost suggests covid is implicated in an unbelievable number of deaths. And that vaccinated people should wear respirators if they want to remain abled.

I am convinced in the future we will look back and realise the sheer unimaginable folly of letting a virus that can cause immune dysregulation and cognitive dysfunction in humans infect and re-infect the global population over and over again. Worse still, that we encouraged it.

Remember there is no reason for alarm. You can easily protect yourself with a well-fitted respirator. Back it up with air filtration and vaccination.
