Really enjoying Fires Which Burned Brightly: A Life in Progress by Sebastian Faulks and particularly this anecdote about a book signing in Minneapolis…

Remind me never to agree to go to anything in Dublin again while the Ploughing is on. Trains fully booked from Mayo this morning. It’s gonna be a long one! #BusTales

Youngest headed off today to embark on his college years.

Empty nest for the first time in almost 26 years.

In totally unrelated news I found myself driving to Tesco and talking to myself. Out loud.

Last purchase before leaving the beautiful Edinburgh. Felt rude not to! And the half price offer at Waterstones meant the bag was practically free!

Only 21 years later and school’s out for the final time in this house. Last Leaving Cert done and dusted. Woohoo 🥳

Did the customary few laps of the lake this evening with my friend and she was RAVING about The Pitt. So now I’m gonna have to ask the young fella to give me custody of his dodgy box when he goes on his Leaving Cert holiday 🤓

Last leaving cert in our house starts on Wednesday. Which completely explains why the boy asked me to buy him flash cards today 🙄

Hmmm, wonder should I wait until tomorrow to start this particular book …
Nah, feck it, I’m going in!
(It’s The Ghosts of Rome by Joseph O’Connor, btw)

’Twas the night before Book Club when … oh shit, forgot to read the book. No interruptions please and thank you!

Watched Juror #2 tonight and, well … great premise but it could have been so much more. Felt like a Netflix film, tbh.

I really enjoyed this #booksky challenge - got me thinking long and hard about some of my reading joys, and of course a close-up look at the shelves. Hard to narrow it to 20, but that was probably the fun aspect! Lots of titles went on and off again as I got closer and closer to the end 🤣
Choose 20 books that have stayed with you or influenced you. One book per day for 20 days, in no particular order. No explanations, no reviews, just covers. #booksky Day 1.

While I go pour another mug of tea have another painting. "Mayo Cloud" came out of a day I had cycling in north County Mayo that was beautifully sunny and beautifully rainy, so it was very bright, and it was very dark, and often at the same time. It was glorious. #SpeirGorm #Art

The great thing about using your local library? You get to read all the books you want without running out of space at home.

Regularly forget what I’ve walked into a room for but stick on some #TOTP from the glorious 1980s and I remember every fecking word of so, so many songs. Weird the way the brain works!
