Hobbyist game dev, chronic over-thinker.
My brain: "2 pm is almost 3, 3 is almost 4, and 4 is almost 5, so it's almost time to go home, nice."

Also my brain: "but if that's true then what about 1 pm?"

"Nah, 2 is nowhere close to 1"

"1:30?"

"still nope."

"huh."

In today's #gamedev report, I've resigned myself to the fact that there doesn't appear to be an easy way to put together a save system, and I am buckling down to learn about writing to file, and then actually coding the whole messy thing. I threw together a quick and dirty system...

Another #gamedev update! Most recently, i realized that I did not actually have an unequip button coded. So... I added one. This was a bit more complicated than you might think, as i've been coding this from scratch in [language redacted to avoid people inevitably critiquing my choice]...

Oof, already been over 2 weeks since my last #gamedev post.

Haven't been doing a ton of #gamedev these past few days, but I have worked a bit on my spotting/IDing system. The ID game is a pretty important part of roguelikes, and i've been working on a rather complex system to handle it, involving separate spotting and knowledge checks...

Continuing my #gamedev updates, last night i just spent a bit of time statting out some of my creatures. I honestly find this to be one of the more difficult aspects I've worked on, because it involves a confluence of multiple design decisions that require a degree of concreteness for all of them...

I've been working on a game for years as a hobby, and i figured I'd start sharing bits of progress as a way to engage online and maybe encourage me to work on it more. If i ever get close to finishing it, I'll write more about broader concepts, but in short, it's a classical roguelike.

I think one of the key appeals of voting is that it's the only time it's broadly acceptable to go around rocking a 'good job' sticker like you're back in elementary school

on the off-chance someone actually sees this, there was a post i saw on here the other day that showed suv/truck sales vs pedestrian deaths for a variety of countries--anyone have it saved?
