A duress day. Some freeholders demand a waiver of claims as part of the process of providing information to long leaseholders remortgaging or selling. In my view this is probably illegitimate duress. The law on duress is complex My forthcoming article on management packs tackles the issue in detail.

What a bloody snobbish godawful obituary for Vettriano. This clot says

'Contemporary art wants more. It wants depth and nuance'

No it bloody well doesn't. It wants incomprehensible pseudish shite written up in gibberish

Jack Vettriano: ‘His paintings are like a double cheeseburger in a greasy wrapper’
The Scot painted singing butlers, ‘broads’ in bras and tough guys in suits, in works critics found lurid, chintzy, devoid of irony and often sexist. But they were also hugely popular – showing the pow...

12 years ago today a nice man told me I had oesophageal cancer. It wasn't much fun. A heavy operation. A long recovery. An unpredictable digestive system. I am very lucky to be here. Pay attention to the message below

So tariffs announced. Stock Markets go down. One day later tariffs on Mexico withdrawn. Markets go up. Insiders, Trump cronies fill their dirty boots. A scam

Here is a really good example of the sheer stupidity of the West. We allow the Chinese to sell a cheap app that is heavily censored by China while China refuses to allow its people to use Western Apps. It's one example of the one way relationship. Madness

Worth thinking about this. I think Starmer is making the same errors. Hoping somehow that decency will prevail. Letting the rich off tax rises. Not reforming Council tax. For example I pay the same tax in my block as someone with a flat a third the size of mine

As another survivor of oesophageal cancer I hope that messages like this will raise awareness and persuade people to seek early diagnosis which is the single thing that will improve survival rates more than anything else
For many 2024 was a year of highs and unbelievable lows of life, I have survived and beaten a less survivable cancer for five years. Now I demand the right for my cancer to be forgotten when it comes to insurance and personal finances. Watch out for our New Year Campaign at @OGCancerNI

In my office bureau sit these two items. One is Capital. The other is my Siemens Six Sigma Green Belt award. Six Sigma is about defect tracking and elimination. I enjoyed the fact that they had spelt my name incorrectly. They offered to take it back but I thought that sort of defect was priceless.

Am arguably mad. Went to David Wilson Library yesterday to read some drafting advice for a book on consequential loss. Place was deserted. Sensible people abed or apub.

I heard Jimmy Carter talk at Hay on Wye years ago. He was human and decent. Signed a book dedicating it to my old man who saw how Israel behaved in Palestine in 45-48.
Later he took dinner in the Old Black Lion where I was staying. No fuss. Behaved like a normal guest.
A great man. A great loss
