Not only a great portrait by Gainsborough (of his nephew, Gainsborough Dupont), but in as-new condition. Once upon a time, all Gainsboroughs looked like this, but the delicacy of his technique means many have suffered over the years.

On October 30, 1811, Jane Austen’s “Sense and Sensibility” was published anonymously. A small circle of people, including the Prince Regent, learned Austen’s identity, but most of the British public knew only that the popular book had been written “by a Lady.” #OnThisDay

While working on some course materials and publications, I had to look up some books & I recalled some research I did for some art history professors. I discovered they passed away a few years ago. Richard Stone and Jonathan Brown. www.nytimes.com/2022/01/28/a...

RIP John Woodvine. He was a fantastic Banquo to Ian McKellen’s Macbeth. He was memorable in Edge of Darkness. I liked him as Admiral Croft in Persuasion. He & Fiona Shaw were perfectly matched as Austen’s model naval couple. Many still remember his Falstaff from the 80s deadline.com/2025/10/john...

America and Europe are on the path of destroying themselves due to white supremacy. Instead of sharing with the rest of us, they'll choose to burn it all down.

I dont think people are prepared or aware of what's happening right now.

Thankfully, we still have the numbers but we must organize.

I came across a list from Collider of the best Cold War films. A good list though dated. I wrote a dissertation in 2021 on spy fiction & contemporary British playwrights so I’m a bit exhausted by this genre. I may revisit it later—who knows?
