20 years ago today I published the first advent web design article on 24ways.org and began a 15 year journey on which I got to collaborate with the most amazing group of people.

It’s that time of year again when I have to upload new firmware to the Christmas tree.

Fellow old folk who have Flickr Pro accounts, what are you doing about your subscriptions? I don’t use Flickr anymore and don’t really want to keep paying the ever increasing subscription, but it looks like if I go free they’ll delete my content. Not sure I have it in me to migrate.

At the request of the teenager I made Sloppy Joes for dinner which are, let’s face it, bolognaise sandwiches.

A question for those who are native to the USA: WT actual F? They were delicious but wildly impractical. How are they supposed to be eaten?

I’ve been going down an RSS rabbit hole. In an attempt to clarify my thoughts, today I built an RSS aggregation backend and now I sort of want to build the rest.

Looks like RSS as devolved from a fully open distributed system to being a low-level backbone for a few centralised services and proprietary clients.

17 years ago I took some screenshots of NewsHutch before it shut down. I’m not sure I ever really found a replacement RSS reader I gelled with.

RSS fans, how do you read your feeds in 2025?
