And we could not build it again, we do not know how.

This is a must-read and is also the first comprehensive post mortem I’ve read working off the vote cast data (which is the real deal) as opposed to the dubious exit polling.

Of all the people mourning the death of Jimmy Carter at age 100 this week, few could say that he changed the course of their lives more directly and consequentially than the Americans taken captive by Iranian militants at the U.S. Embassy in Tehran in November 1979.
‘He Saved Our Lives’: Former Hostages Recall Carter’s Quest to Free Them
The Iran hostage crisis became a symbol of a failed presidency, but for some of those who lived it, Jimmy Carter was the one who brought them home at the expense of his political career.

Went to see Nosferatu with my girlfriend. She screams at horror movies. There was a guy in front of us that fell asleep and was snoring loudly. One time she screamed and startled him awake. She screamed and then he did. Funniest horror movie I’ve ever seen. 😂

Finished the plague lectures I was listening to and now on to reading “The Journal of the Plague Year” by Daniel Defoe (author of Robinson Crusoe). Did you know that he was considered the father of realistic fiction? I love the way that reading it like a personal account draws me into the history!

If I take a step back and think about it, it actually makes perfect sense we would end up with a right coded social media platform and a left coded one.

There have been a lot of times where I feel like we need to have honest discussions on the left about what has worked and what hasn’t, share observations without judgement, but it feels like there isn’t much space for it. I think it’s holding us back.

I wonder how and where we can accomplish that.

1/ A reasonable compromise on trans women in bathrooms.

In North Carolina, a doctor must sign off on legal gender changes. Their license would obviously be at risk for not taking the clinical criteria seriously. Clinical distress, HRT, living as a woman.
