Of all the states to try out their Nazi bullshit, Minnesota was the absolute worst! Kind people, stronger community than most others, and that Minnesota nice will stop you in your tracks!
Minneapolis and Saint Paul have basically mobilized into a war economy of mutual aid and non-violent defense. I’ve never seen anything like it, even during Covid. People who barely vote are guarding their schools from ICE and doing the shopping for neighbors in hiding.
This is so smart. I’m so impressed with all the different ways you’re helping your neighbors.

I always thought MLK’s ‘Mountaintop’ speech was his best, which was given the day before he was killed. It is especially relevant given what is happening now in MN and elsewhere. He was getting many serious threats, which he references in his line “I may not get there with you.”

If these ICE kidnappings are a reminder of anything, it's that if they can arbitrarily arrest people then we can arbitrarily disregard the formal processes of society. If it doesn't matter to them, why should it matter to us?

I feel something that has gotten lost in everything is the ideology of purpose. What is the purpose of government? It's a question that many of my students have never been asked and very few ever give real thought to.
