Playoff hockey OT has the “snort cocaine riding a motorcycle out of a helicopter” quote, but playoff baseball extra innings is like playing Russian Roulette every fifteen seconds

This tells us two things:
1) Public matching funds were crucial
2) Citizens United is the worst Supreme Court decision in the past 50 years at least

It’s so convenient that the filibuster is strong enough to keep anything good from happening, while also being weak enough to never stop anything bad
Trump admin is calling to cut $9 billion from the already-bad CR they just made law.

This process, known as a rescissions package, is a legal way to stop spending (unlike the illegal stuff they’ve been doing so far).

It is filibuster-proof, meaning they can do it even if all Ds vote no.

the clearest proof Jackie Robinson was one of the most consequential people in history is that nearly a century after he started playing baseball, cowards are still working tirelessly to shut him up
The Department of Defense deemed a story about baseball hero and civil rights leader Jackie Robinson's time in the Army as "DEI" and deleted it.

Every popular comment section on twitter is just:

15 inane comments from accounts without bluechecks

30 inane comments from bluechecks who didn’t pay enough to hide their bluechecks

Followed by the actual replies from real people

I honestly believe our most powerful position in a toxic time that feeds on cynicism, apathy,& despair is to genuinely care and act for a better world.

Cynicism is our enemy. We should check it, incl. on the left. It’s not intellectually superior. It’s the virus they’re trying to infect us with. NO

It’s a facile point but “gender ideology” is such a capacious and imprecise term—never actually defined, so it can mean anything. And it’s used almost exclusively by people advancing their own, highly specific and prescriptive ideology of gender.

this idea that journalists are not allowed to describe objective reality that they see but can only quote what other people believe about things is one of the stupid ideas that has basically destroyed a shared reality

this is literally the future republicans want: public funds for segregation academies and religious private schools that actively discriminate against LGBT students or students with special needs
NEW: Private schools across the South that were established for white children during desegregation are now benefiting from tens of millions in taxpayer dollars flowing from rapidly expanding voucher-style programs, a @propublica analysis found.

Refusing to legally admit guilt only matters in the courtroom imo. In the court of public opinion, it’s totally fine to view a settlement as the admission of guilt that it is, especially with an nda attached

It's insane to me that people treat the current electoral college process as some sacred institution given to the founding fathers by divine inspiration that can never be altered or updated, when in reality the first competitive presidential election looked like this:
